The first post on this blog was the last time we were just asking questions.
It's the same question.
Where Is The Old Site?
I retired the old.goeshard.org site (you can still find it on that subdomain, though it won't be updated ever again).
I started the new goeshard.org, which isn't done yet but here it is.
The original was an mkdocs-material blog that I hacked around to do what I wanted. The idea was: What if a super corporate looking site was twisted to do things that a corporate site would never do: questionable content, perversions of the design spec, links to weird things. There was three huge problems with this idea,
- Virtually no one understood what I was going for without having me explain it to them.
- The corporate look of the site affected how I did updates in some kind of weird pychological way
- As time went on, hacking on the massive documentation builder codebase to do something I wanted to do felt less fun and more like an obstacle.
New Site
I wrote a custom static site generator that is simple and easy to extend in any way I want.
I still support all old links to articles
I added better archive pages
You can now browse post archives by year and month.
I have a comment box on posts now
I have a lot of plans in store and this is not done, but it's the start of something new.
